MR E. W. GURR’S WEDDING.
(Samoa Times.) On Wednesday last, December_ Slat, Fanua, the adopted daughter of Seumanutafa, the young lady who was a few months ago invested with the title of “ Maid of the village,” was married to Mr E. W, Qurr, our popular auctioneer. The bride looked charming, dressed in njntgnifioent fine mats, and the bridesmaids, six in number, were handsome young girls, dressed in a similar manner. Seumanutafa and Tulafe'a Lata, accompanied the bride and bridesmaids to the British Consulate, 1U SeumanuUfii’a boat, where the ceremony was performed by T. J 5. CusackSmith, Esq., H.B.M.’s Oonsnl. After the ceremony several of Mr Gurr s friends were invited to the wedding breakfast, when the health of the newly married couple were drank. Seumanutafa had already Lvi'.cf a large number of people to a dinner, a la Samoa, and a ball in the Public Hall in the evening. The dinner was held opposite Seumanutafa a residence. Many Samoan delicrctea were tastefully laid out under a canopy, and a large number of citizens attended and did full justice to the good things provided. The ball in the evening was a great sucoass ; the house was filled, Mr Conrad Cederkrantz, Lieut. Ulfsparre, Consul-General Steubel, and Consul-General Sewall being present amongst the guests. The refreshment table on the stage was covered with icakes, tarts, jellies and fruits of aU kinds, all being very creditably arranged by the caterer, Mr B. Woods, while at a side table refreshing dnnks were served out to the thirsty by two industrious young men. The bride looked even more charming in a pink satin dress at the head of the set when the ball was opened by a quadrille, and dancing was kept up till midnight. Mr and Miss Chat field and Mr Armstrong contributed the music. Before breaking up the company present drank the health of Seumanutafa and his wife Fetulea, and concluded by joining hands all round and singing heartily u Auld Lang Syne.”
