TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.
An adjourned meeting of the above board wns held last evening. Present— Messrs Blyth (chairman), Coira, Clinch, and Siorey. AM EXPLANATION. The chairman naid that Mr Boulter had explained to him that the lwnp near Mc Tombs' was not lighted when there was full moon. He was not supposed to light it on moonlight nights. He was g >iog to light tliem all in ih« übuil w-iy now. The clerk said Mr Boulter told him that moths made the lamps smoke: After some further conversation, Mr Storey moved--" That the chairman and Mr Clinch view the lamp when it ia lit up."—Carried. CROSSINGS. An nppl : c*tion was received from Mr James Grant to pub a crossing m his premises in the Main street.—Crauted. FENDING. It was resolved to write to the owners asking tbem to fence the section between Mr Storey's and Mr Money's shop. FIRE BRIGADE. A letter waa rtcsived from the Fire Brigade asking for a cootribuiiao towards pnrc'iasing a new hose. Tno chairman sa«d the b*st thiDg was to ascertain how much thebrgide wauled, and wh't ihey were going to do with the aione)', and u resolution lo that < ff«cl waa carried. REPORT. The report of the overseer was read, and with regard to culverts it was resolved—" That all culverts not repaired to the satisfaction of the board's overseer will be taken up by the board's surfacemen with : n 24 hours after notice is given."
"WATBRgDPPLY. The ohairman brought under the notice of the Board the proposed scheme to gefc water from the water race which it is intended to bring down as a continuation of the Orari-Waiui-water supply. The proposed race would come down through Mr Postlethwaite'e estate, by Orari and Winchester, to Temuka,! and the town district would become a part of the water-supply district. The matter was discussed at considerable length, and it was decided to defer the matter for the present to swait results of meetings in other parts of thci district. sanitahi. The Botrd then constituted itself a Board of Health, and ».be Inspector of Nuisances reported that the night soil had been removed moat satisfactorily. With regard to one matter complained of, a promise was given that the matter would ba attended to. The meeting then terminated.
