The return match between the Temuka and Timaru Clubs was played in Victoria Park on Saturday afternoon. The local eleven were the first lo bat, and, as the score-sheet plainly shows, it had a very good bead but an extra long tail, and, therefore, bad lo put up with a good diubbing, neglect lo attend practice haying a good deal to do with the bad form shown by the Temuka men. During the adjournment the two teams partook of afternoon tea, kindly provided by Mrs E. Brown and her daughters. The Timaru men at first did not do very well, Smith being bowled by a beauty by Ilayburat when he was getting dangeious. The next five wickets put on very few runs, but W. D. Perry, Posllethwaite, and Macintosh put a very different aspect ou (he game, and Temuka had to take a b»ck seat once more. Hayhnrst bowled well, but had bid luck, and Digoan, for once, con'd not lower his opponents’ bails. Bryars come to the rescue, and biggod most of the wickets.
