AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report: sales for the week ended January 24,; 1891, as follows: — At the Gieraldine fortnightly sale on Wednesday the entry consisted of: 1703 sheep, 37 cattle, 21 pigs. Prices, realised were:—
Sheep— Crossbred wethers-and ewes! (2 and 4 tooth), lls 6d; crossbredj wethers and ewes (2 tooth), 9s lOd to; lOslOd; merino wethers (in forwardj condition), 6s Id ; crossbred ewes andj lambs (all counted), 4s 7d; merino; ewes and lambs (all counted), Bs 3d. Cattle —Steers and heifers, light! weight, but grand quality, were passed! in at a bid of M. Eat icows sold ati £2 15s to £3; stores, £1 5s toj £1 17s 6d; yearlings, 15s to £l. Pigs—Porkers, 14s fid to 15s j stores, 10s to lls ; weaners, 5s to 6s.
ENGLISH MARKETS. London, January 22, The Bank rate is 3£ per cent. A Natal 3£ per cent, loan of ; £2,110,000 will be issued at a mini-; mum of 95| on January 29bh. It is estimated that the American : visible supply of wheat is 46,300,075; bushels. Jan. 23, The Bank of England reserve is £17,054,000. The proportion of: reserve to liabilities is 43.9 per cent. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribedstock, lO'fif; 3£ do, 96£. New Zealand hemp, Auckland, fair,! quality, £24 10a; Wellington, good, £24 ss; best Manilla, £42. Frozen mutton, Wellington, 4d; Canterbury lamb, 4fd; New Zealand beet, forequarters, 3£d ; hindquarters, 4£d. New Zealand flour, superfine, 23a fid.
New Zealand wheat, long-berried, 37s 9d. For wheat on passage sellers ask 37s 3d ; buyers offer 3Gs 9d. Off coast cargoes, 37s fid, Adelaide wheat 395, business restricted ; Victorian, 38s fid, business quiet. German beet sugar, 12s 9d ; Java, 15s 3d.
No. 1 best Scotch pig iron, in the Clyde, 47s 3d. The butter market is glutted prices have fallen 4s per cwt, Th e dairy-made butter ex the s.s. Duke of Buckingham realised 100 s per cwt,and; factory-made 112 s to 114 s.
New Zealand cheese, 54s to 65s per cwt.
