COTTAGE GARDENS.

Mr A. E. Lowe, judge of the cottage garden competition at the recent flower show, has sent the following Co the secretary of the i’emuka Floral and Horlicu'tural society;— o

No 3 was withdrawn. The owner o£ No. 10 deserves a word of praise for the excellent condition hia garden was in at the time of my visit. It was nery evident that it had not been got up for exhibition, but was rather the general condition. No. 4 also deserves praise, and if there ■was a limit as to s Z 3 would not be so far down the prize list. No. 6 gives one rather the idea of a market garden than a coltagei’s, and outweighs No, 4 with fruit. Nos. 5 and 9—l did not put down the detailed points, as I saw they would not be in it. Without exception every exhibitor deserves great credit for tho excellent condition their gardens were in considering the dry season.
