TIMARTJ.WpOL ;SALES. The second of the series of wool sales took place at Timarii pn Thursday. There were two thousand five hundred bales, catalogued. In some there was very| little Jf| anychange in, prices tjo note; some , of' tfye I lots sold perhaps . ,slightly ( .better,, and some, again did not realise .quite so. well. There was a fair demand/for pjeces and locks, these. suiting,woolscpurers, and merino wool seemed to meet with greater favor from buyers. One lot went up to 9£d; haltbreds went from sid to 10fd; long-wool about 7d; locks about 3d ; and pieces 6d,
ASHBURTON WOOL SALES. j The second and concluding series of wool sales for the season were held on Monday. About 1200 bales were catalogued, and almost a complete clearance was effected though the attendance of buyers was not large. Prices for merino were |d to £d above the December sale. The values of good halfbreds and crossbreds were unchanged. Inferior to badly conditioned wools were rather weaker, ENGLISH MARKETS. Tjovdots, January 18. Tallow—Medium mutton, 26s 6d ; do beef, 255. The arrivals of wool to date amount to 248,000 bales. Best Bides Australian leather, B£d to9d. Jan. 19.
