GERALDINE COUNTY ACCLIMATISATION SOCIETY.

A meeting of the council of the above society was held on Monday evening at the Crown Hotel, Temuka. Present—Mr A. M. Clark, president (in the chair), and Messrs E. Cutten, J. W. Velvin, M. Quinn, J. Murray, and R. Pinckney (acting secretary). ELECTION" OF A SECBETABT.

The president stated that the meeting had been called to make a permanent appointment of a secretary vice Mr Aspinall resigned. On the motion of Mr Velvin, seconded by Mr Cutten, Mr Bobert Pinckney was appointed to the position. wetthto ts lakes. The presdiont said that Mr Pinckney had written for information as to regulations for netting in Lake Wakatipu with the view of something similar being done with the Mackenzie lakes. The correspondence on the subject would be laid before the council at next meeting. THE POACHING CASE. In connection with the recent poaching case and the conviction of Mr D. Leach it was resolved to fcrward the advertised reward of £5 to Mr Bannatyne, and express the council's appreciation ot the straightforward manner in which bis evidence had been given. THE MILFOBD BAB. Some discussion took place with regard to permanently keeping open the Milford bar.

It was decided that the secretary write to the South Canterbury Acclimatisation Society upon the subject, with the view of securing their co' operation, as it was felt that anglers belonging to each society suffered through the blocking of the mouth of the river. MACKENZIE COtTITTX, The president drew attention to the delay in making permanent arrangements for the appointment of a subcouncil at Pah-lie Creek to deal with matters of importance in the newlyincluded portion of the Mackenzie County in the society's boundary. The secretary was requested to write to Mr 3. Gall, and ascertain what licenses had been ießued, and also to obtain other information upon, the subject,

GENEBAL. Several arrangements necessary for the conduct of business for the future were |made, and some general instructions "given to the secretary, and the meeting terminated.
