Wellington, Dec. 26. A lad named Sydney Beid, aged fifteen, had his foot terribly crushed to-day on the Queen's Wharf. He was fishing underneath the wharf, one foot hanging over the stringer, when a Bteamer.came up, and the unfortunate boj'» foot was crushed into a shapeless mass. He was removed to the hospital and the foot amputated. Dvnedin, Dec. 26. Edward Gibson, a carrier, was killed at Wedderburn on Tuesday while on his way to Dunback with a load of wool. It ia supposed that the brake gave way while coming down the hill, and he was thrown to the ground, the waggon B°^ n S over him. Gibson, who is well known, was about fifty years of age, and has a brother at the Taieri. Atjcxxjjcd, Dec. 27. A young man named Chas. Hutchinson, " who recently arrived from Christchurch and was since reported missing, has been found drowned near Tamaki Heads. A young man, Robert Latimer, was drowned yesterday in the Waikato river, about ten miles below Tuakau, while swimming. The deceased was employed in the Bank of New Zealand, CHEISTCHrsCH, Dec. 27. The police received a message from Kaikoura on Saturday that a laborer earned James Anderson, who was thrown from bis horse on Friday, had died from the injuries he received.
