DIRISH AFFAIRS.
London, Dec. 19.
The Irish Presbyterians ■ have* issued an appeal lo the English Presby'emns nrging them- to reconsider their determination to support Home Rule, Mr Dillon dep'ores the outrage on Air Parnell, aiid exhorts the latter’s opponents to desist from violence. Dec. 19. ; Over seventy members of Parliament ere present at Kilkenny awaiting the election. Mr Parnell’s eyesight is in danger. The inflammation has extended to both eyes, but he persists in speaking at the surrounding, villages despite the warning of the doctors. It is alleged by bib opponents, that the-amount of injury is purposely, exaggerated. Mr Justin McCarthy, on his arrival, received an ovation from both men and women,*
Some exciting scenes hare taken place in the ' Kilkenny Municipal Council. The minority retired in dudgeon, and the majority then Toted a motion of confidence in Mr Parnell. The Clan-na-Gael support him.
Dec. 20,
Tipperary tenants are now paying their rents, and the Plan of Campaign shows signs of collapsing in that county. The Queen’s Proctor is enquiring into the O’Shea divorce.
Roman Catholic priests are making a house to boose canvass against Mr Parnell’s candidate for Kilkenny North. Collisions take place daily between the opposing parlies, and troops are arriying to maintain order.
Mr T. S’Xton declares that his par'y will hereafter demand assurances from Mr Gladstone beyond the points obtained by Mr Parnell with respect to Home Role,
Ademaidh, Dec. 20,
At a meeting of the local branch of the Irish League, it was suggested that an Intercolonial Conference should be convened to consider the present state of Irish Affairs. .
