OHRISTOHUEOH STOCK MARKETS.

At the Addington Yards on Wednesday there was a heavy market and a good deal of business was transacted.

Store Sheep—About 1000 stores of various classes were yarded and sold as under: —Crossbred hoggets from 5s lid, some forward conditioned twotooth crossbreds reached 10s line of this class being withdrawn at 8s Bd, crossbred dry ewes in small lines 2s sd, ss, and 5s 2d, ewes and lambs all counted 3s 8d and 5s 6d, Some merino ewes with lambs given in, realised 6s and 6a 4d. Lambs—From 450 to 500 lambs of good sorts were yarded, and nearly all sold at from Ss 6d to 12s, for pnmest quality for freezing,9s to 10s 6d being the general average. Fat bheep —More than 6000 fat sheep were penned, a considerable number being in excellent condition for export There was a fair demand for this class at prices ranging from 11s 7d to 13s. There was a general clearance. Light weight crossbred ewes realised from 9s to 10s 9d, and a few lines of merino wethers were sold at from 6s to 7s 6d

Fat Cattle —The entry of fat cattle was a very heavy one, 210 head were yarded, of which there was some very fine beasts, which brought up to £8 ss, realising up to 20s per 1001 b. A few others reached this price, but the genera! average ranged from 16s 9d to 18s 6dr Inferior quality was difficult to dispose of. Store Cattle There was a very small entry of store cattle, consisting chiefly of odd lots of dry cows, a few full grown steers, and one or two lines of yearlings, which realised similar rates to those prevailing recently. A few very nice dairy cows were offered. Pigs—A small entry m this section met with an unwilling market. They consisted chiefly of porkers, a few bows, and weaners.

DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat—Market unaltered. Best tuscan and velvet, 3s 9d to 3s lOd ; other good milling sorts, 3s 5d to 3s Bd. Fowls’wheat, in fair demand, good whole, 3s to 3s 2d; inferior and broken, 2s 3d to 2s 6d.

Barley—Little enquiry; best malting, 2s 6d to 2s 9d ; milling, 2s 3d to 2s sd; feed, Is 9d to 2s. Oats—Have a good enquiry for milling, Is 3£d to Is 4d ; bright plump feed Is 3d to Is 3|d; other sorts, Is Id to Is 2id, Flour—Timaru and Oamaru roller, £10; in 50’s, £lO 15s; town and Southern, £9 ss; 50’s, £9 15s. Oatmeal —£8 in bulk ; £8 10s in 25’s.

Bran—£2 10s. Sharps—£3 10s, Potatoes—New kidneys, £l2 ; old potatoes, unless prime Southern, have no inquiry ; value, 30s to 40s. Pigs—3d to 3fd ; hams, 7d to 8d ; bacon, 5d to 6d. Chaff—3ss to 42s 6d. Straw, oaten and wheaten, 30s to 35a,

Butter—Fresh, fair supply ; prime salt, 6d to 6|d. Eggs, plentitul. Honey, sd. Cheese, 3d to 4d. Grass Seeds—Ryegrass, 3a to ss; cocksfoot, 4d to'fid.

Sheepskins—On Tuesday butchers’ green crossbreds and halfbreds, best in the wool, fetched Gs, to 5s Id ; selected, 6s 6d to 6s 3d ; good to medium and inferior, fis to 4s 3d ; green merinos, 5s to 4s ; green pelts, 9d to Is ; extra prime to Is 4d ; lambskins, Is Id to Is 4d ; country dry crossbreds, inferior to medium, Is 6d to 3s 3d; do do merino, Is 4d to 3s; full-woolled crossbreds, 4s 3d to 6s; do do merino, 3s 9d to 5s 9d ; dry pelts, 3d to Is 3d Hides—lnferior and slippy, Id »o lid ; hght, to lid ; medium, 2d to 2id; good to best dry spited, to 2id ; extra choice lots, 3d per lb, making the usual allowance in weight for offal, cheeks, and shanks. Tallow and Fat —A good demand for local consumption continues to be experienced. Inferior and mixed, 12s 6d to 15s 6d; medium to good, 16s to 18s; prime rendered mutton, 19s to 20s. Rough fat finds a ready sale, no matter how small or large the parcel, at, for best caul, from 13s to 14s; inferior to medium and good, 10j to I2s 9d per cwt.

DUNEDIN STOCK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Fat Cattle—2so head were yarded, a considerable portion of which were good to prime, several pens being very heavy weights. Competition lacked spirit, prices ruling being fully 20s per head lower than last week. Beet bullocks brought £8 10s to £lO 10s ; medium, £5 10s to £7 2s 6d ; light, £4 to £5 5s ; cows in proportion. Pat Sheep—3l99 penned, of which about 120 were merino wethers, all the rest crossbreds. The demand was fairly active, and prices obtained were within Is to Is 6d per head of those ruling last week. Best crossbred wethers in the wool brought 18s 6d to 20s 6d; medium, 15s to 16s 6d ; do do shorn, 13s 6d to 15s 9d ; medium, lls to 12s 9d ; best crossbred ewes in the wool IGs 9d to 17s 9d ; medium to 15s ; do do shorn, 13s to 14s 3d ; medium, 10s to I2s ; merino wethers in the wool, lls ; shorn, 5s 9d Lambs sidering the heavy supply forward,

competition was fairly active. Best brought 9s to lls 9d ; others from 5a to 8s 6d. Pigs—2Bs penned, comprising all softs, but only half a dozen baconera —mostly stores and : suckers. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Dec, 9. The wool market is firm, but prices remain unaltered. Til* New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London, dated s)lh inst. ’ Wheat—The market is quiet. New Zealand long-berried is worth 87s per 4961 b. Other quotations unchanged since’last telegram. Rabbit bkms, — The demand is moderate. , All descriptions have declined about Id per lb since last report. WOOL SALES. The wool sales were opened at Dunedin on Thursday. About 3000 bales were catalogued. As far as could beJearned from buyers, tbe wool was of a .lighter and better class than most of the northern clips. The sales passed off as well as, if riot tetter than; was expected, The average decline of prices as 'compared with last season was about Hd per lb. Some coarser crossbreds perhaps suffered a little! more. In fine half-breds arid merinos the difference was from Id to l£d only, Avcklxnd, Dec. 10. The wool sales were held to-day by Messrs Buckland, Hunter and Nolan, and Binney and Sons. About 230 Q bales were catalogued, and nearly all! sold.
