In respect of Mr J. . Washington’s application I have to report s that Mr Douglas h’»a only partially com--3 plied with the request of the board. E Merely a right-of-way to tbe section has k been given, while a portion of the aid fence > has been left standing. The creek frontage has also been fenced off instead of , being left open. The position will be easily ascertained on reference to the map. ; 1 have had a lot of scrub cleared from I Guise and Shaw streets to admit of the , passage of wheeled traffics. It will be . necessary for the board to arrange for a i fresh supply of dog collars.—l am, etc., A. W. Gaze, Clerk. , He also submitted a report as health ■ officer, It was generally favorable. Suggestions were made as to a course to be pursued in reference to the adoption by a section of the householders ot a pan system. It was resolved that the clerk obtain 40 dog collars from Mr E, H. Brewer. Tbe overseer to have the footbridge at Gamack Street repaired, INTERVIEW. Mr Douglas waited upon the board in reference to impounding, He wished to know if the board had given instructions only to impound certain stock. He had had a foal impounded when one of Mr Brown’s had been left. The chairman asked if be wished to infer that the poundkecper had been instructed not to impound the commissioners’ cows.? Mr Douglas said he only wished for fair play, Mr Brown said that any person coming to the board should have proper grounds for complaint. The chairman said that Mr Lawson had not been definitely instructed as to impounding. Ho referred Mr Douglas again to the poundkeeper. Mr Douglas also brought up the question of tbe disputed fence. The complaint he considered, originated with Mr Geo* Washingtoa, and not with Mr John Washington. He thought it was hard that as the time was approaching when the creek reserves were to be let he should be asked to remove fences, He also applied for a few loads of boulders from the pit near Mr Storey’s. Mr Douglas then withdrew. j After consideration, Mr Douglas < was recalled, and he was informed that > as his fence was on a roadline, and outside his section, all obstructions must be removed as soon as possible. i Mr Douglas urged that it was un- » reasonable, as others also had fences j outside their boundaries. i J

HEALTH OFFICER. Th« overseer was instructed to see the Temuka night-soil contractor in reference to persons desirous of his services. AOCOXTNTS. An account of £2 was passed for payment and the meeting terminated.
