DESTRUCTIVE FIRE.

Brisbane, iJec. 6. A disastrous fire broke out in the city early this morning. Benjamin Bros.' warehouse was destroyed and the premises of McArthur and Co., adjoining, were considerably damaged. Benjamin's stock, which was valued at £60,000, was insured for £41,000. The damage to McArthur's premises and stock is estimated at £15,000. Dm. 7. McArthur's insurances in New Zealand offices were:—United £IOOO, Standard £ISOO, National £2OOO, New Zealand £2OOO. On the building—New Zealand, £6500. Benjamin Bros.' risks in the New Zealand Offices were:—-South British £I6OO, New Zealand £ISOO, National £IOOO, and Equitable £SOO. It is now estimated that the total amount of damage amounts to £70,000. Five greman were injured by falling walls.
