CHRISTOHURCH CORN EXCHANGE. The following is the Corn Exchange report (per N, P. Meyers, Secretary), for the week ending Friday, December sth:
Very little business hat transpired during the week, the near approach ot the elections disturbing to a great extent producers and merchants alike. The weather still continues dry, and reports reach us of oats as being in ear in some places where the straw is but few inches high. Wheat is in few hands and transactions are consequently limited. Oats— Ihe same dullness prevails prevails.owing to the outside markets, showing no improve ment. Beans and Peas—But few sales hare taken place. Dairy Produce—A fair enquiry exists for really prime keg butter, but second quality and pastry sorts are entirely neglected. Quotations are as follow : Wheat—Tuscan 3s 5d to 3s 6d pearl 3s 4d to 3s sd, hunters 3s 3d to 3s 4d.
Oats Milling Is 7d, bright feed Is 6d, inferior Is 2d to Is 4d. Barley—Nominal for malting, feed. Is 6d to Is Bd. Beans and Peas—2s 6d for the former, 2s 3d to 2s 4d for the latter. 1 Dairy Produce —Potted butter 6£d to 7d ; cheese, large size 3d to 3£d, small leaf shapes 4d. The above prices are those paid to farmers for delivery, f.0.b., Lyttelton,; sacks extra.
OHRISTOHUROH STOCK MARKETS. At the Addmgton Tarda on Wednesday there was a fair attendance. Fat Sheep r— About 2500 were yarded, most of which were crossbred ewes, the wethers being in a minority. Best quality sheep realised Is to ls6d over last week's sale. Prime crossbred wethers and maiden ewes brought up to 14s 6d, and light-weights from 9a. Store Sheep— Only 700 were yarded, of which the principal line was one of shorn merino ewes and crossbred lambs, which sold at lis the pair. Some shorn crossbred ewes and lambs fetched 6a 3d all counted, and two linea of dry ewes sold at 8s lOd and 5s b'd respectively. Fat lambs—Only 150 lambs were sold at an advance of about 7s a head on last week's prices, the highest reaching as high as 143. Fat Cattle—l2o head yarded. Tkere was nothing of special quality offered, the entry consisting chiefly of lightweight steers and heifers and a few cows. Best beef ranged from 16s 6d to 18s 6d per 1001 b, while the sale of inferior quality was very dull. Steers sold up to £7 15s, heifers to £4 15s. Store Cattle —A very small entry, with only one special line of good three-year-old steers. These Bold cheap at £3 17s 6d. Yearlings sold at 17s 6d, cows 42s to 70s. Dairy Cows—Good realised from £5 7a 6d to £6 15s
Pigs—The entry was very small and consisted of about 50 porkers and aome odd lots of stores.
[ DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETB. The following is- the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat—Market unaltered. Prime tuscan and velvet, 3s 9d to 3s lOd ; other good milling, sorts, 8s 6d to 3a Bd. Fowls' wheat—Good whole fowls' wheat, 3s to 3s 3d ; seconds and inferior, 2s 3d to 2s Bd. Barley—We quote nominally best malting, 2s 6d to 2s lOd ; milling, 2s 4d to 2s 6d ; feed, Is 9d to 2s. Oats— Beat bright milling, ls3fd to la 4d; bright plump feed r Is 3d to Is 3£d ; inferior and off-sorts, Is to Is 2d. Flour —Timaru and Oamaru roller here, £10; in 50's, £lolss ; Oamaru, town and Southern atone, £9 5s ; in 50's, £9 15s. Oatmeal—Short ton bulk, £8 ; 25's, £8 10s. Bran—£2 10*. Bharps—£3 10s. Potatoes —New kidneys, £l2 ; old derwent, glutted at 30s to 40s and not saleable. Pigs—3d to for good Bizes; hams, 7d to 8d ; bacon, 5d to 6d. ChaffT—3sß to 42s 6d, as per quality. Onions—None locally grown in the market. Straw—Oaten and wheaten, 30s to 355. Butter—Prime salt, nominally 6d to 7d ; fresh, in fair supply. Egg*—Plentiful. Honey—sd perlb. Cheese—New Akaroa, 3£-d to 4d ; old, 3d to3ld. Grass Seeds—Ryegrass, 3s 6d to 6a ; cooksfoot, 4d to 5d ; Beconds, 3d, Sheepskins On Tuesday town butchers' green skins sold as follows : Extra heavy crossbreds at 6s 6d to 8s ; ordinary do, 4s 6d to 6a; light do, 3s to 4s 3d; pelts, do, 6d to 18d; lambskins, do, lOd to 19d; merino akina, 3a 6d to 5s 6d. Dry country skins as follows : Crossbreds at from 28 to 6a 6d; merinos, la lOd to 5a sd; pelts, 3d to lOd ; lambskins, 9d to 16d. Hides—Carefully flayed and well conditioned heavy hides meet with a ready sale, but light and inferior sorts are neglected, We quote: Prime heavies, to 3d per lb; medium weight, 2d to per lb ; light and inferior, Hd to If d.
Tallow—The local manufacturers are buyers fur all lots in sundry packages at full market rates. We quote: Prime rendered mutton tallow, £2O to £2l; prime rendered mutton, £lB to £l9 ; medium, £l6 to £.17 j inferior,
£lO to £l4; clean mutton ca«ls, 13s to 13s 6d ; inferior to medium, 9s 6d to 12s.
DUNEDIN BTOOK MARKETS. At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was.transacted : Eat Cattle—l 39 head yarded, most medium quality. The sale was dull throughout, .and we are unable to quote any .improvement, in values. Best bullocks brought from £8 to to £9 17s 6d, ordinary £6 10s to £7 15s, light £5 to £6, best cows £6 10s to £B, ordinary £4 10s to £5 10s, inferior £2 to £3 15s.
Fat Sheep-—Were in very short supply, barley 1400 being penned, and prices ruled high; towards the close of the sale, they ..eased off a little, Values generally were about Is 6d a- head better than last week.. Best crossbred wethers (in wool) brought 19s 6d to 21s-9d; ordinary; do do (in woofj, 17s 6d to 19d ; light; do do (in wool), 16s to 17s ; best do do (shorn), 1.5 s to 16s lOd; ordinary do do (shorn), 13s 6d to 14s 6d ; light do do (shorn), lis 6d. to I3s;,best; do ewreej (in wool), 17s to 19s ;, ordinary, do dp (in wool), 15s to 16s j.best, do do (shorn), 14s to 16s; merino wethers (shorn), 9s to lis. Fat Lambs—43l arrived to a good; market, Best lambs realised from lis to lss, others in proportion.
Pigs - "sßo.penned., The sale,was a, wretched one throughout, and business; could only be effected at pricea which; must leave a loss to both breeder sndj fattener. Prices obtained for prime, grain and dairy f«d pork this week, were barely equal to 2id per lb/ Bacon pigs sold at from 2.5 sto 33s ; porkers, 18s to 28s ; stores, 12s to 20s'; Buckers, r ßs to 12.

Bran, 7£d ; pollard, B|d. Peas, Prussian Blue, 3s lOd, , scarce. Potatoes, old, £3; new, £4 10a to £5. Onions, £l4. Butter, dairy, made, 6d ; separator made, 7d ; factory, Bd. Cheese, loaf size, s|d-to Bacon, machine" cured, to s£d ;; hand cured, s£d to 7d ; roll bacon, 7d to 7|d; New Zealand cured, 9d to 9£d ; hams, New Zealand cured, ll£d to Is. Melbottbne, Dec 3. Wheat, prime sorts 3s 9d. Flour, market quiet, atone makeß, £7 15s to £8 ss: roller makes, £8 15s to £9 ss. Oats, in bond, New Zealand, Is 9|d,| to 2a Id ; New Zealand milling, 3a 2d. ; Maize, 3s 4£d. Barley, Cape, dull, at Is 9d. Bran, B£d. Adelaide, Dec. 3. Wheat, shipping parcels, 3s ,9d. Flour, stone makes, £7 10« to £8; roller makes, £8 10s to £9 ss. New Zealand oats, good samples, in steady demand at 2s Bd. Barley, Cape, 2s 3d to 2s 6d ; English, "malting, 2s 6d to 4s. Bran, 8d to B£d; pollard, Bd.
ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Dec. 2. A portion of a shipment otbutter ; from Sydney has been sold at 112 s to 115 s per cwt. Owing to the thick fog the wool sales had to be postponed to day. Dec. 3. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,272,000 quarters, and for the Continent 5,400,000 The American visible; supply is estimated at bushels. Tallow, beat mutton, 26s to 27s Gd ; beef, 25s to 26s 66. The competition at the wool sales has improved, and prices are now, slightly above the opening rates. The money market is declining and three months' bills are now quoted at 4£ per cent. Bank of New Zealand shares, new issue, £7 TOs; National Bank of New Zealand. £1 15s. The first quotation of Broken Hill Proprietary on the Stock Exchange is £l3 15*. The following prices were realised for butter by the Arawa :—Best, 112 s; medium, 100 s ; much inferior, 60s to 80s." Wool is unchanged.
