ENGLISH MARKETS,

London, Nov. 29. Tallow—Medium mutton, 25a 6d ; do beef, 24s 6d.

The English wheat market is depressed, hut Continental is improving. The American market shows a general advance. Colonial peas average 33s 6d.

The total quantity of wool catalogued up to date is 48,600 bales, of which 41,200 have been sold. The prices show an improvement, and the rates ruling are depressed, while bidding is unspmted. feouth Australian butter averages 95s and Victorian (best quality) is quoted at 122 s ; medium do 965. Money is declining, and three months’ bills are now quoted at 4i per cent. There is a prospect of a reduction being made in the Bank rate of discount.

The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable message from London, dated 28th inst, :

Wool—The sales progressed fairly well, but there is much irregularity in the bidding. Since close of last sale greasy merino has declined Id, scoured merino Id to lid, fine greasy crossbred |d, fine scoured crossbred Id, coarse heavy crossbred £d, coarse scoured crossbred to Id per lb. Wools of a faulty character are neglected. The total quantity withdrawn to date is 5000 bales. Frozen Meat—Mutton market is firmer, mutton having advanced i of a penny per lb since last report. Tallow—There is a fair demand Best mutton 26s per cwt, good beef 25s per cwt

New Zealand Hemp—There is more enquiry, but market is lower. Medium is worth £22 per ton,
