ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Nov. 25. The wool sales were opened to-day. Eleven thousand bales were catalogued, '] here was a fair attendance, but competition was poor. Merinos averaged 7£ to 10 per cent, and crossbreds 5 per cent, below the October closing rates. Silver is quoted at 3s lid. Nov. 26. Three months’ bills are quoted at 5£ per cent. Consols, for money, firm. New Zealand 4 per cent, inscribed stock, 104|, firmer ; 3£ do, 94|. The money market is recovering after the recent relapse. The total quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2,876,000 quarters, and for the Continent 648,000. The American visible supply is estimated at 24,192,000 bushels.
Arrivals of wool up to date total 122,000 bales of which 12,400 have been sent forward direct. 144,000 bales are now available for the present series. Wool is unchanged. Faulty merinos show the greatest decline, and good scoured the least. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Limited, have received the following cable rapsssge from London, dated 25sh iast. ;
Wool—The sales opened yesterday at an average decline ot r l\ per cent, on last sales closing rates. The principal decline has been in medium and inferior greasy and scoured merinos. Attendance of both Home and foreign buyers was normal, and competition was fairly active. The total quantity available, including wool held over from last series, is 158,000 bales, 12,000 of which have been forwarded to the manufacturing districts direct. Wheat—The market is quiet, but there is an improved feeling. New Zealand wheat, fa q. t to arrive, iron ship, is worth 35s 9d per 4801 b, September-October bills of lading; quotations nominal. New Zealand wheat, long-berried, is worth 37s per 4901 b ; do, average, 35s 6d per 4961 b,
