AUCTIONEERS’ REPORTS. GERALDINE. Messrs J. Mundell and Co. report sales for the week ended Nov. 15th, 1890, as follows At the Geraldine yards on Wednesday we yarded 1300 sheep, 55 cattle, 26 pigs, and sold the bulk of the entry at the following prices, viz. : —Crossbred wethers and maiden ewes (fat), 16s to 18s 6d ; halfbred wethers and maiden ewes (shorn), 10s, lls,i to 11s 6d ; halfbred wethers and ewes, 2-tooth stores (shorn), 8s; merino wethers (in the wool), 7s 6d; threequarterbred hoggets (culls), 9s 9d. Cattle: Three-year-old steers (in forward condition), £4 5s to £4 15s ; 2-year-old steers and heifers, £3 2e 6d; yearling steers and heifersj; 16s to £l. Pigs : Breeding sows, £1 7s 6d to £2; stores, 7s, 7s 6d, 7s 9d, to 8s ; weaners, 4s 7d, 6s, to 6s 3d.
AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Sydney, Nov. 14. Fine rains have fallen throughput the colony, and an unusually good season is predicted. The maize crop in the north will be very heavy, but wheat in the same part is largely affected with rust,! Grasshoppers are ; causing great destruction put west, and the railway was stopped for several hours thrpvigh the insects on the line. The pest .is moving down the Hurrumbidgee in clouds. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Nov. 13. The Bank of Fnglaild has now regained thorough control of the money market. Heavy sales of consols’ 'have been effected. The rate bf exchange will be raised L per cent on Saturday. ’ i , ~ Frozen beef is one farthing dearer. Quotations for frozen mutton and lamb are unchanged. New Zealand hemp is in poor, demand. About 200 bales have been sold at a decline of £3 per ton. After the sale prices recovered. Nov. 14. The Bank of returns, publised to-day, show the total reserve in notes and bullion to be £11,103.0|}0. The proportion of reserye to liabilities is 33.24. Consols, 94. New Zealand 5, per cent, inscribed stock, 105 ; Three months’ bills, 5|- per cent; market firm. South Australian wheat, 38s 6d,,restricted; Yictorian ditto, 38s, flat; New Zealand long berried wheat, 37s 6d, active ...
