GERALDINE SCHOOL COMMITTEE.
SPECIAL PHIZES. The chairman and Mr J. W. Pye promised two special prizes for the examination. NIGHT OP MEETING. It was re.-olved to alter the night of committee meeting to the second Tuesday in the month at 8 p.m, ENTERTAINMENT. It was resolved that the chairman confer with the head-master re the school entertainment. Accounts amounting to £33 2s Id were passed for payment and the meeting terminated.
Tbs monthly meeting of this committee was held in the schoolroom on Wednesday last: Present Messrs E. H. Pearpoint (chairman), C. E. Sherratt, A. White, J. Riordan, J. Williams and J. W. Pye. Mr W, S. Maslin forwarded an apology for nonattendance. COEBESPOJTDEKCE, Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows: From the Board of Education, advising the committee of the following sums having been paid te their credit: Incidentals, £9 2s 6d; rent of drill shed, £l7 14s Bd; grant for fence and pump, £ls. From Mr A. C. Bell, resigning his position as teacher, owing to appointment at Seadown.
From the head-master, applying for foolscap paper, advising that the clock needed repairing, and asking tbe committee to decide whether photographic certificates ef attendance were to be given this year.—Decided to obtain the paper and repair the clock, the master to ascertain the cost of photographic certificates and report at next meeting.
KISCELIfAIVEOirS. It was decided to ask the Board of Education to pay the cost of ventilating the infanta’ room, and for 35s to repair the bells.
It was decided to obtain the timber and nails for repairing tbe platform, the headmaster having agreed to do the work.
Tbe chairman and visiting committee were empowered to have tbe large stones around the school broken and to make the ground uniform, to attend to drainage at boys’ urinal, and to have a trough made for the pump,
It was resolved that the head-master be informed that the Domain Board having made a passage at the south corner of the large domain no boys or girls must be allowed to cross the fences, and requesting him to see that this was carried out. It was decided to request the Board of Education to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of Mr Bell. Several members of the committee mentioned that the night work given to pupils was most irregular, and it was resolved to ask the head-master for an explanation. The chairman was authorised to ascertain what had become of the lamps used in the old school. VISITOES. The visitors reported having visited the school and found everything working satisfactorily.
Messrs C. B. Sherratt and J. Tf, Pye were appointed visitors for the ensuing month.
