CHRISTCHURCH STOCK MARKETS. At the-Addington Yards on Wednesday, buyers mustered in full force, but did 1 not seem over anxious in their operations. There will be no market next week. Fat Cattle—A large entry, the Quality, on' whole, being of a decidedly superior nature. Competition was not so, keen as of late, and towards the finish 1 of the sale anything of an inferior nature failed to bring out competition, and a decline in values of from Is'fid to 2s fid per 1001 b took place. Bullocks sold at from £8 10s to £ll 6s, cows from £4 7s. fid te €7t 69 ; steers and heifers from £4 15s to £lO 16s, Fat Lambs—A large entry yarded, which made equal to last week s rates. Prices ranged, from 6a 8d to 14a, the quality being varied. Fat Sheep—The entry of fat sheep Was not very much larger than those of thfe past few Weeks. Several-pens of extra finei sheep were noticeable, Both in wool and shorn. Some of the fiormer made from 20s to 22s 6d a 'dead, while shorn sheep went as high *s 16s 9d. Bidding throughout the gale was quiet, especially for inferior sbrts, which suffered in values far more than really prime sorts did. hlessrs H. Matson and Co., associated with the National M. and A. Company ot N.Z., Limited, sold crossbred wethers and maiden ewes at 12s to 13s Bdj maiden ewes at 14s fid ; shorn crossbred wethers and maiden ewes at 11s 4d to 17s Id halfbred ewes at 16« 4d to 17s sd; a grand line of freezers in the wool at 21s 5d to 23a 9d ; shorn Hampshire Down wethers at from 17s 3d to 21s 3d.
DUNEDIN PRODUCE MARKETS. The following is the report for the week ending Wednesday:— Wheat-Market unaltered. Best tuscans and velvets, 3s 9d to 3s lOd ; other good milling sorts, 3s 6d to 3*Bd. Fowls’wheat: Good whole, 3s to 3s 3s ; broken and inferior, 2s 8d to 2s lid. Barley (nominal)—Best malting, 2s 8d to 2e lOd; milling, 2s 4d to 2s 8d ; feed, ls9d to 2s ; pearl barley, £l4 to £l6. Oats—Best milling, Is 3Jd to ls4d; feed, Is 2d to Is 3d ; off colour, Is to i. u.
Flour —Timaru and Okmaru: Roller, £lO f.0.b., £lO Ss here; 50’n, £IL Stone-made, £9 6s; 50’s; £9 15». Oiitmeal, £8 to £8 10s; bran, £2 10s; sharps, £3 10s. Potatoes, 10a to 80s; new kidneys; 2d per lb. Onions, £l2. Pigs —Not saleable. Hams, 7d to 8d; bacon, 5d to Bd. Chaff, 30**6 428 6d: TUrhipft and Carrots not saleable. Straw —Oaten and wheaten; 80s. Hay—Oaten, 30s; clover and ryegrass,- £B. Butter—Prime salt; nominally; 6d to 7d ; fresh, plentiful. Cheese —Factory, 4d; Akaroa, BJ‘d. Eggs, plentiful; honey, 4d to 6d. Orais Seeds—Ryegrass, 8s 6J to 65.; cocksfoot, 4d to sd.
Sheepskins—OnnTuesday, one ! line of green half bredi (some bfthe heaviest offered this season) sold as high as 8a; good average green crossbreds, 5s lOd to 6s 3d ; medium, 5s 3d to 6s 7d; light, 4a 9d to ss; best merinos; 5s ’3i to 5a 81; medium, 4s 6d to 4s 9d i lambskin#, 9d to Is 3d. In dry skins a few double fleeces were sold at from 7s to.lOs 6d ; best single fleece. (cros»bred)y ss! 6d to 6a < 4d; gOodji 4s 9d to> 5s 3d» inferior to medium, 3s to 4s ; drv 5 merinos,; tb 4a 4d. Hides—Values for these are about the same as they have been for some time past. Prime heavy well-flayed oibides inky be quoted at 2fd td 3d per lb ; medium, 2d to 2fd ; light, to l|d; inferior and damaged, l|d per lb. Tallow—Best rendered mutton i« worth 20s to 21k per cwt; medium t 6 good, 17s to 19s ; inferior and mixed, 14a to 16s; best mutton caul, 14a; butchers’ rough fat, lls to 12s; inferior, 10s to 10s 1 6d.
DUNEDIN STOCK M ARKBT3. ' At the Burnside Yards on Wednesday the following business was transacted : Fat Cattle —152 head yarded. Oni best sorts there was a rise of 10« pier head Other classes brought about* last week’s rates, with by no means a brisk sale. Best bullocks in* thei market (there being none' extra prime), £9 10s; £lO, to £lO 2s 6d ! ; medium, £6 lOs to £8 j light, £4TDs to £5 15s; cows and heifers proportionate rates. . Fat Sheep—B6o2 yarded. Of that) some 400 were merinos, the bulk- of J the remainder being made up of : medium class crossbreds. Last week’s high prices were hardly maintained, but lines sold well. Prime' crossbred wethers may be quoted at 18s to 19 s, a few extra heavy sheep, both in wethers and ewee, selling up to 20s; average weight crossbred wethers, 17sto I7s 6d ; light, 15s 6d tb 16s* 6d<; prime ewes, 16a to 17s 6d; 6onie f feW ’ plena 18s to 19a, and, as bufbre mentioned, in one instance to 20s; medium weights, 14s to 15s; merino wethers, 10s 6d ; to 15s. there were • sold for Mr Wm. Grant! Eilougbton GraftgA, Timaru, 140 ewes and wethersfrom lls 3d to 12s 6d. Fat Lambs—369 yarded. A few half bred Downs sjld up to 16s 3d, but 12s was about the current rate for what might be termed good lambs; medium, 9s to 10s 6d; light and inferior, 7s 6d to 8a 6d per head. Pigs—Sucfeeta’ brought 9a to' 19s ; stores, 16S to 17s 6d ; porkers, 24k to 25s ; bacon lines, 27s to 83s. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, Oct. 29. The Antwerp wool sales to-day opened dull, and bidding was very reserved. Prices ranged from sto 10 centimes below those ruling at the i last sales.
