Auolclakd, Oct. 29. The man Charles Chapman, who dangerously assaulted a fellow employ 6 named Davis, at Hellaby Bros’s mises on the 7th mat , by stabbing him in the cheek, has been committed for trial. A man named John Hynes, a lodger at the BritOmart hotel, attempted to commit suieida to’-dky by shooting) himself in the left 'i side close ! to the: heart. The wound is not fatal. Hynes, .when'questioned, said he bad: been sick and ailing for months and was tired of life. Oct. 31. Frederick Hunter, a married man, who has been in a despondent frame of mind because of having no work, cut his throat with a razor, in spite of the exertions ot his wife to prevent him. Wem-ikotck, Oct. 31. Charles Cress, occupier of the place raided by the detectives on Sunday night, pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to a cfaage of keepa gaming house; and was fined £2O. Bwitheim:, Oct. 29. A young man named Jellyman was Ined 30a and costs to-day for mocking those giving testimony at the Salvation Army. A man named Evans is reported as having been drowned while crossing the river Jordan. Chbistchubch, Oct- 31. John Doyle; a young man, was fined £5 at the Resident Magistrates Court yesterday for disturbing a Salvation Army service on Sunday, October 19th. Alfred lie Campion fell from a dray yesterday and fractured his skull. He □ever recovered consciousness and died to-day. Mrs Rose Babidish, one of the performers iff Wirth’s circus, fell off her horse yesterday morning, and was struck on the back of the head by the horse’s hind foot. It is feared that her skull is fractured.
