LABOR DAY.

Auckland, Get. 28. , The eight hours procession numbering about 300 persons, this afternoon went through the principal streets, headed by a baud. The day was not observed aa a general holiday. Na:pikb, Got. 28.

• Labor Day was celebrated here by a procession and a very successful sports’ meeting on the recreation ground. About 1500 spectator* were present. ! Wellington, Oct. 28.

The labor procession started from the Vicinity of the Government Bailway station at 10 o’clock, and was headed by the bus Carrying Mr 8. D, Parnell, originator of the eight hours movement in New Zealand, and several of his friend*. Jenkins's band came next, and was followed by member# of the Seaman’s Union, who displayed their banner and appropiato tableaux. The cooks, and stewards' miners’, wharf laborers’, and wharf carters’ unions, all of which were atrongly represented, were next in order, each being preceded by a suitable banner or tableaux. Members of the shore unions came and were accompanied by four bands, one being the Garrison Band. Most of the trades were represented, and displayed either banners or tableaux. In all about two thousand persons took part in the procession, and the streets were lined by crowds of spectators. The day was observed as a universal holiday and sports, attended by about 6000 persons were held in the park. OHBItXCHURCH, Oct .28.

The,union sport*, attended by fully 8000 people, Were held at the Agricultural Show Grounds, Addington. £IOO were taken at the gates, and 500 strikers and children under 14 years were admitted free. The day was also closely observed at Lyttelton. Dunedin, Oct- 28. The unionists held a concert in the evening lo wind up the day. It was well attended.
