AUCTIONEER’S REPORTS. TIMAKTJ. Mr E, R, Guinness, for the New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Ageney • Company, Limited) reports for the week ending October 25 h : Sheep—Entries at the various fixtures—especially Geraldine and Temuka —have been fairly good, and, considering that we have had a very dry- spring, with any number of nor’-westers, the demand and prices must be admitted by the most despondent to be beyond their most . sanguine expectations. When venders are prepared to accept current rates sales are easily effected. Cattle—Very small numbers of fat cattle find their way into the saleyards—in fact, there is no beef worth mentioning in the district. Anything approaching fat that is offered at auction sells remarkably well. Stores are now coming in freely, more especially at Temuka, which is essentially a cattle dit-trict, and large exchanges take place. Geraldine Yards —At the above yards, jointly with Mr A. B. Cox, on the 15th inst., we had a large entry of sheep and cattle yarded, and good business was done. "We effected the : following sales by auction 30 fat j crossbreds at 17s 7d, 90 fat haltbreds at 16s, 30 fat three quarterbreds at 16s 6d, 64 store 2-tooth crossbreds at 14s 6d, 20 do do calls at lls 6d, 190 store 2-tooth crossbred ewes at 13s 6d, 19 crossbred ewes with lambs at foot at 13s 9d, and 563 half and threequarterbred hoggets at 12s Bd.
