TEMUKA SCHOOL COMMITTEE.

The monthly meeting of the Temuka Difltrict High School committee took place on Tuesday evening. Present— Messrs W. Storey (chairman), P. McCaskill, W. Wills, J. W.yolvin,B. Brown, and W. G. Rutland. W»A9 master’s report. The head master’s report was to the following effect: — Boys. Girls. Total, Average weekly roll 190.1 170.0 360.1 Average attendance 150.0 138.6 289.6 Highest attendance J 62 163 315 A list of school requisites was enclosed: The sum of £1 19s 6d had been received for current quarter. He reminded the committee of the date of the Timaru Show. INTERVIEW. Mr George Lynch waited on the committee in reference to the nonattendance of one of his children. He had a difficulty in getting him to school, and attributed it to a dislike the boy had taken to scholastic work after having on one occasion been punished.—The committee could not take action in the matter outside of the regulations of the Act. The Board of Education forwarded copy of the new School Committees Election Act, 1890.—The secretary was instructed to apply to the hoard for a further supply of copies, owing to the intricacies of regulation contained therein, and which would, therefore, require most careful perusal. VISITORS. The chairman and Mr B. Brown were appointed visitors for the ensuing month. accounts. Accounts amounting to £4 13s 6d were passed for payment, HOLIDAY. It was resolved to close the school on the second day of the Timaru show. The meeting then terminated.
