GERALDINE SCHOOL. | Mr West also reported on an enquiry respecting the site of the Geraldine new school. He said that a site was first chosen by Mr Maslin—chairman of the committee at the time—-Mr Shiers, and himself, about four chain! north of the site used. Afterward Mr Pearpoint became chairman and selected the present site. The extra cost through adopting this site, in concrete foundations, owing to s slope one side, was about £3O or £4O. ; Mr Pearpoint sent a memo, in explanation.. He believed the previous committee selected a site higher up, but this would have taken up too much of the ground for play. The ground was not cleared when the second site was selected, and the slope referred to was not well seen when the site was pegged out. Mr Barclay said be was one of the subcommittee appointed to look after certain details, and he wished to say that he had never been consulted on . this point.
It was agreed to hold over the discussion of the subject until Mr Pearpoint’s return. SANITATION AT THE POINT. Mr Smyth reported on the drainage at the Pleasant Point School and recommended that another pump be put down for the use of the school, the present one being within 36ft of the
