Horses —Our sales on Saturday and to-day have been 1 a decided improvement on those of seyeral weeks past. Young sound draughts have been in demand and soldUat.,up to £3O. Harness horses possessing strength and style are inquired for, and fair values offering. We quote heavy draught geldings at £2O to £3O; medium, £lO to £18; aged, £8 to £9 10a; hacks, medium, £8 to £l2 10s; light, £4 to £6 10s. Cattle Thera has been nelt to nothing doing in fat or store cattle at any of the yards. W« sold dry cows at 30s to £2 15s, 1 heifer at £9 l7s 6d, and privately we placed 40 prime bullocks at equal to 24s per lOOlbs.

Notwithstanding the, existing condition of affairs caused by the labor troubles business in this class of stock has been well maintained, and now that our local factory.ia in full awing, combined with the fact .that Belfast and Islington are starting; fat sheep fit for export are again in good demand.

Temuka Yards—-On Tuesday last there were about 1500 sheep of various classes yarded, and some 60 liead of Seattle, and the attendance of buyers being good a very satisfactory sale resulted. Our entry was 793 sheep and 20 head of cattle; we, succeeded in placing all the sheep and about half the cattle as follows :—l2O fat crossbreds at 16s 6d, do do halfbreds at 16s, 246 2-tooth store crossbreds at 13s 9d, 100 crossbred hoggets ,at 12s 3d, 200 three-quarter-bred hoggets at 13s 3d, and a small lot of crossbred ewes with lambs at foot at 12s; steers up to £4 per head. Sheepskins and Wool Wednesday’s sale showed a full attendance of fellmongers, and some good; lines, of both country and butchers’ skins were brought forward. Prices showed a decided improvement, as the following prices will show : Best butchers’ crossbreds, 5s to 6s 4d; second quality, 4s 6d to 4a lOd ; merino were in good demand, and some splendid skins brought 6s 2d to 6s 4d ; second quality, 4s to 5s 3d; factory crossbreds, 6s to 6s 4d; country lots, according to size and condition, to 7d per lb Wool: 2 bales pieces, 3fd per lb j 3 Bags do, s£d do; other lots, 3d to 4d per lb. Our sales by auction were 1252 skins, 2 bales and 6 bags wool. Hides—Late prices are maintained; we have disposed of 87 at quotations. Pat—All on hand sold at late values.

ENGLISH MARK El’S. London, Sept. 26. New Zealand hemp is improving in price, and good medium is quoted at £22 15s to £23 per ton. Adelaide wheat is flat at 38s; Victorian, quiet at 375, New Zealand longborried is weaker at 36a 9d. September 27, Wool is firm, with a hardening tendency.
