PEAK HILL DIGGINGS.
Stokky, Sept. 28. 1 Largo numbers are flocking' to the Peak Bill diggings daily, and it is bstimated that there are now fully 4000 on the field.' Tbe'depth of sinking is 130 feet in tbe prospectors' claims and there are about 6 feet of wastr-dirt. The width of the lead is at present* unknown, but it is supposed to be considerable/ Seven ounces of}gold bare 'been -picked' op in? Ihe wash-dirt, in piecire'vaveragingl from a few pennyweights to three ounces.It is estimated' that the wash-dirt will yield from 6to 8 ounces per load. The country is pegged out for miles, and a rinmber of shafts will during the week. It is expected that the value of the field will soon be settled. ~.,,
