The Jews in Russia.—The repressive edicts issued by the Russian Government against the Jewes in Russia increase in severity (says a Times correspondent). The new regulations are remarkable in this respect. They ordain that in the future Jews shall reside only in tewne not in country. No Jew will auy longer be permitted to own land or even to farm land. To intensify the severity of this edict, and widen its scope, the Government officials have included many nun* dreds of small to urns in the category of country villages, and expelled ihe Jews from those towns. Tens of thonanda of souls will thus be rendered homeless. Jews are no longer to be allowed in any way connected with mines or mining industry, nor even to hold shares in any mine. They will be partieally debarred from partaking of any educational ad». vantages, whether in schools, gymnasia, or universities. The legal profession, in which heretofore a large number of Jews in Russia have achieved great success, will in future be closed to Jewish students. Jews are henceforth prohibited from following the of engineer or army doctor, or from filling any Government post, however subordinate.
