wheat is good. Clean samples are ' worth 2s 6d to 2s 9d per bushel. Feed oats move off freely in 10 and 20-sack lots at Is 3d to Is 4d per bushel; Derwent potatoes 50s. per ton, kidney do no demand; live pigs, 6s 6d, 9s 6d to 14s 6d each; fresh butter (good) Is per lb. Now that the Union Company's boats are beginning to run irore regularly holders of Derwent potatoes will be able to quit their stocks. Oats remain at the same price, viz., Is 3d f 0.b., sacks extra.

This should enable our country friends to see that their dairy 'products are not Bpblle ! d Whilst awaiting shipment. Our quotations are as follow:

Wheat Tiiscan, 3s 63; pearl, 38 4d; hunters, 3s 3d. Oats—Milling, Is 7d; short" bright feed, la 5d to Is 6d; inferior arid long, la ! 3d tols4d.

Barley—Prime malting, 3s 3d; feed, ls6dtols9d.

Beans, 2s 6d. Peas—Prussian blues, haiid-tnreslied, 3a to 8s 3d; feed sorts, 2s 4d to 2s v ßd. Grass Seed Kyegrass, machinedressed, 5s to 5s 6d; ! cocksfoot, 4£d'ib Potatoes—Perwents, 30s at country stations, within a radius of 12 miles. The above quotations are those paid to farmers for delivery, f.0.b., Lyttelton, sacks extra, potatoes excepted.

ENQLI&k MAfIiKEL'S. LOKDON, Sept. 1&. Seven hundred baleß of New Zealand hemp have been sold at an irregular advance '■ in price. Good "Wellington is quoted at £2l 10s;'fair quality, £2O 10s.

The price for frozen beef is improving. Other meat quotations are unchanged. The wool market is very firm. South Australian wheat, 38s; market restricted.

New Zealand long-berried do, 36s 6d, market quiet. Sugarj German beet, 14s, market flat; Java, 16s 3d, nominal.

No. 1 best Scotcbpig iron;; f.o.b. on Clyde, 51s 3d, active. At the wool sales combing merinos, all crbssbreds, were ■' disposed' of ;t at 5 per cent, above' those' ruling at the_ July sales. 'Prices for'clothing sorts were unchanged. The shipping; ring has reduced the freight on cargo by sailing vessels to Melbourne and Sydney to 17s 6d per ton. and to Adelaide £l per ton. ■ The Tyser Company is being strongly supported, and it is expected that there will be brisk competition for shares.
