AROWHENUA TOWN BOARD.

The regular monthly meeting of the above board was held last night. Present—Messrs B. Lee (chairman), A. Brew, E. Vallenderj J. Ashwell, and E. Brown. CORRESPONDENCE. After routine, correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : From the Receiver of Land Revenue, advising payment to the credit of the board of the sum of £46 12s 7d, being third of receipts derived from sections specified in list attached. . Prom the South Canterbury Hospital s«i Charitable Aid Board, covering statement of recipients of charitable aid in the board’s district, and inviting suggestions thtreon.— The list was considered, two objections being made to the continuance of relief to the persons resident in the township. overseer's bbpobt.

“To the Chairman and Commissioners Arowhenna Town Board.

“ Slß,—l have the honor to report that during the month one man has been employed 12 days and 3 hours in preparing footpaths in Denmark street and Studholme street, and also in spreading shingle as carted by the contractor. A pipe culvert has been put down at the junction of Denmark and Maude streets, and the crossing at Oamack street shingled. The contractor for carting footpath gravel carried out his work in a satisfactory manner, but the shingle from the gravel reserve No. 756 was hardly as fine as was desirable. It was, however, the best procurable. I arranged for the carting of soil from the footpaths at per day. The carter was employed in all two days. The excavation on the road leading to the special settlement has been filled in, and the ruts in Denmark and Wilkin streets made up. The rails of footbridges and of lavender's bridge hare been painted white, but as the work has only been finished to-day 1 have had no opportunity of passing it.—l have, etc., “A. W. Gaze.”

The overseer was instructed to attend to repairs to portion of foot path in Den mirk Street, fronting Reserve 761 where the embankment had fallen in slightly. RATE BOLL. The new rate roll was submitted and signed. financial. Mr Frew moved—“ That the sum of fifty pounds be placed at fixed deposit for 12 months with the Bank of New Zealand, Temnka. Seconded by Mr Yalendor and carried.

ACCOUNTS. Accounts amounting to £22 10s 9d were passed for payment.
