Horses—At theTimaru horse bazaar our entries have been small, and, with a few exceptions, confined to aged and weedy sorts. Really /good draughts, suitable for farms and road work, are in good demand,uand meet l a^eady sale. To-day we sold 4 colts and fillies at from £ls to £2O 10s, andithejwellknown hunter Sergeant for £3O. quote draughts at from £ls. to £2O; aged and inferior, £8 10s .to £lO 10s. Breeding ewes are much, enquired for, and are likely to remain in favor some time. Fat sheep command fujl values, and Several lines of freezers have changed hands' at rates 1 highly satisfactory to the sellers. We have placed; lines at 17s 6d to IBs, and fat ewes ,at ; iSsßd to 15s. Cattle.-—We have no transactions] to report in store; cattle, and at Wash-j dyke yards only a very'small business] has been done in fat cattle, the quality] cooling' forward' being only second-] rate. Sheepskins—Since our last report wehavO sold privately and at auction! 7174, viz., 3827 factory : skins and 3347 butchers’ and country skins. Pricejsi have 'been,! well; maintained. Best butchers’' crossbreds sold at 5s 6d, 5s Bd, 5s 10dv 6s, to 6s 6d • medium, 4s lOd to 5s 3d; merinos* 4s 3d to 5s 2d ; light crossbreds, 2s 6d; to 4s.
Hides— We have this week disposed of 1 all consignment 0 i vto hand at —for. medium weights,. Ifd per lb ; light j Id to Iyd. Tallow—We have sold over 3 tons of rough fat at from iOs 6d to 11s pen owt.
ENGLISH MARKETS. London, August 28. Six thousand quarters of Hew iZisai land arrive! in September have been sold at 37s ,6d. Two, hundred bales of New Zealand, hemp have been sold, at ; steady rates. Lamb, 4gd. New Zealand beef, hind quarters j 3id. The meat market is otherwise! unchanged. New Zealand hemp, good medium ! quality, £2l 15s to £22. Augpst 29. ; Adelaide wheat, is firmer, and is quoted at 395. Victorian is also firmer at 38s. New Zealand long-berried is firmer at 38a.
