At Wasbdyke yards on Thursday we had no business to report.
Clearing Sale —On Tuesday we conducted a sale of fruit and forest trees on account of Mr John Pye at his nursery, Geraldine. The sals was largely attended and a satisfactory clearance was the result. ; timaru. Messrs William Collins and Co. report for the week a good inquiry for milling and fowl wheat. The former is hardening every day owing to the shortage in England and on the Continent. - Millirig pats are worth la' 6d to Is 7d. In feed oats we have orders for several lines for Sydney, but owing to the strike the chances are that they cannot be landed in that port. As a result business is restricted for a time. At our regular weekly auction, the entries were more than could be sold to advantage to the farmer. We sold fowl wheat at 2s Sd to 2s 6d per bushel, with good demand; feed pats, 4a 9d, 6s, to 5s 6d per sack, in ten and thirty sack lots. Our advice to farmers is not to send in kidney potatoes, as it will pay better to keep them at home and feed their cattle and pigs with them; Derwents, 45s to 50s per ton: carrots, 15s for 10 sacks; pork (from the Hook) 2*d to 2|d per lb, frem Orari, 2d to do; live pigs, Bs, 10s ; to Is each. Several lines of sheepskins were bought, at 3s 9d, 4s 6d to 6b each for fine half-bred woolled ones, coarser descriptions at a lower figure. We notice by the wool catalogue of the June-July London sales just to hand by the San Francisco mail, a terrible drop in the staple, and that some of the South Canterbury wool growers have suffered very much thereby. *
