The Mayor of Limerick and several of the corporation have been expelled from the Irish League for refusing to support a resolution pledging confidence in Mr John Dillon in hid dispute with Bishop O’Dwyer. i The imports of the United Kingdom for the month of July show a decrease in value of £2,200,000 as compared with the corresponding month in 1889, I The Army Service Corps at Chatham having refused to parade, returned to their barracks and locked themselves up in the storeroom, The ringleaders of the mutiny were sentenced to .imprisonment for a month. The men allege that they hre overworked, and enquiry is to be made into their charges. The winding up of the New Zealand Agricultural Company has been appealed against.

The cricket match between Cambridge and the Australians ended in a draw.

Lloyds have presented Captain Bright, of the ship Beltane, with £IOO in recognition of bis services in saving the ship from destruction on her voyage from Port Augusta to London. The Beltana left Port Augusta on November 22nd, and when in sight of Antipodes Island it was discovered that the vessel was bn fire. Tain endeavors were mode to discover the locality of the fire. All the batches were closed, and the vessel headed for Lyttelton, where she arrived on December 16th, and after a couple of days' hard work in Lyttelton harbor, the fire was subdued. Alter reloading the Beltana sailed for London. * The amount collected in aid of the survivors of the Balaelava charge is inadequate. Mr Henry George has been entertained at a banquet at Obinford, and in the course of his speech Tie stated that the single tax was progressing in Australia, but he found protection a strong obstacle to it.

The captain, mate, and some of the crew of the ship Carlisle hare landed at Woodside. They report that they were wrecked on the Kent group on Wednes-’ day night. A boat containing eight of the crew is missing, Sydney, Aug. 9. ,

The Rev. Charles Clark to-day preached a sermon, the proceeds of which were to go to charitable par poses. The church was crowded, about 4090 to 5000 being present. Tbe announcement that the organ would not be played was received with hisses. :
