THE LATE MR R. TURNBULL.

The funeral of the late Mr R. ■Turnbull M.H.R.; which took place last Sunday, was the largest ever seen in Timaru. The body was brought by the Penguin to Lyttelton last Saturday, and conveyed to Timaru by special train which reached there at 6-45 p.in. The coffin was taken to the lata residence of the deceased gentleman, and the funeral took place on Sunday. As showing the esteem in which he Was held by his Liberal friends in the House the following message, .was received early on Saturday “ The Mayor, Timaru—- “ Please oblige by procuring handsome floral wreaths on behalf of the undersigned friends in the House, and kindly send memo, of expense incurred. Mr (Rhodes has wired Mr Perry to provide? flowers if florists unable to supply them.” (Signed for Sir George Grey, and Messrs -Ballanoe, Walker, Rhodes, Buxton, Steward, Seddon, Duncan, J. Mackenzie, Feldwick, and Pish ) Mr C. A; Wray, R.M., also received a telegram from Captain Russell, requesting him to attend the funeral as the representative of the Cabinet.
