TIMARU HARBOR BOARD.

The Timaru Harbor Board met on Wednesday. Present—Messrs E. Acton (chairman), Morris, Wilson, Talbot, Teschemaker, Barker, Manchester, ani Ross, and Captains Woollcombe and Sutter. COBRESPONDENCE. from various sources was dealt with, including a letter from Mr Darling, stating that the new tog Mana would be ready by tho end of June. KEPORTS. The Standing Committee recommended additional lamps to be placed on the wharf, also two new screw mooring to be placed near the North Mole. It also recommended to raise the wages of coxswain Thompson to 9s per day, and the other members of the Harbormaster's crew to 8s per day, seven days to count in a week. This was a rise of 3s per week in the case of the former, and 7s per week in the case of the latter.—The report was idopted after some discussion. The Eogineer reported that JB2O ton§ of spoil; had' been dredged off hard ground during the past month, The Harbormaster reported that 26 steamers and 10 sailing vessels had arrived, and 26 steamers and 5 sailing vessels had left during the past month. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £447 17s 7d was d. 'I he wharfage returns were. £879 16s 9d. The total tonnage Bhowed an incrpase for the first half of this year of 11,306 tons as compared with the first half of last year. SECRET BUSINESS. WHARF ACCOMMODATION. Mr lioss said that for the want of additional accommodation for mooring ships cost the board about 300 a year, but no action wsb taken in the matter. VOTE OP CONDOLENCE. A motion was carried expressing regret »t the loss sustained by Mr Arthur Perry by the death of his wife. The Board then adjourned.
