A well-known literary man, who wrote a number of articles in condemnation of the New Zealand Insolvency Act while the measure was before Parliament, and who has persistently condemned its operation since, went insolvent the other day to test in his own person the effect of several of the subsections. Professor Robertson (Canada) has found out that when cows are denied salt, to which they have been accustomed in their food for a period of a week their milk yield decreases from 14 to 17 pet cent., end that the quality is often inferior. He also says that milk produced from food to which salt has not been added, becomes sour in 24 hours’ less time than milk drawn from the same animals when they had been consuming salt with their food.
