AUCTIONEERS’ REPORT,
TIMAUIT. Messrs Grade, Maclean and Go. report for the past fortnight, as follows: — Horses.—At the Timaru Horse Bazaar on the sth inst„ our entry was a small one, and but little business effected. To-day we had an average number of fairly good draughts, and for the best of these competition was brisk, resulting in the sale of a large proportion of them. We qupto medium to good draughts at from £l2 10s to £2O, inferior and aged £6 to £lO 10s, Hacks—There are only a few weedy sorts offering, for which there is no demand. Sheep. —At Pleasant Point monthly sale, on the 7th inst, about 4000 sheep were entered, and the quality of the different lots was remarkably good. The sale throughout was the best we have seen at these yards for several months. Wethers and ewes in condition for finishing off on turnips, and crossbred and merino ewes in lamb were much in demand. We sold on account of various owners 107 fat 2-tooths at 10s 3d, 128 2-tooth ewes and wethers at 12s 3d, 50 do do at 9s Bd, 104 fat ewes at 12s 9d, 100 prime 2-tooths at 17s 4d, 46 fat ewes at 10s 2d, 585 merino ewes in lamb at 4s 4d to 4s sd, 34 fat ewes at 18s Od, 70 2-tooths at 14s 9d, 40 do hoggets at
8s 9d, 28 ewes at 12 7d. AtWaehdyk 6 on Thursday last, we sold 53 merino ewes at 5s lid, 174 crossbred ewes at 12s Bd, 22 do at 13s 6d. Cattle.—There has been very little doing in either fat or store At Pleasant Point, we sold fat cows at £5 2s 6d,fat steers at £4lss to £slss, 2-year-old steers at £2 10s, calving heifers at £3 to £4,105.
Pigs.—Only a few offering; demand, limited. We sold 8 baconers at 265, 4 slips at lls 6d, 10 weaners at 7s to 7s 6d.
Sheepskins i and Wool. —At our fortnightly sale on the 3rd inst., we catalogued and sold 3500 skins. There was a full attendance of buyers, and notwithstanding the state of the London wool market, former prices were fairly well maintained. Best crossbreds realised from 4s to 4s 9d medium 2s 6d to 3s 9d, pelts 8d to Is 9d, best raerinosllSs 6di to 4s 6d, medium 2s to 3s, and 37 bags and 5 bales wool.
Messrs William Collins, and Co., report a fair demand for all classes of of produce at their regular weekly auction on Saturday. Fowl wheat was in small supply and all was sold at Is 6d, Is 9d, to 2s Id per bushel for clean samples, mixed lots 6s to 7s per sack, feed oats Is 3d per bushel (good demand; more can be placed at the same figure), Derwent potatoes 42s 6d per ton at the I imam station (sacks extra), bacon pork 2fd to 3£d, 1301 b carcases bringing the latter figure, onions Id to l|d per pound., kidney potatoes 4s per' saek, Derwents 4s fid do,' field peas 2s per bushel, farmers’ ryegrass seed 35,6 d to 4s Id per bushel, cocksfoot to 2d per lb.
ENGLISH MARKETS.
London, July 10. The wool market is more animated and biddings are now nearly equal to May prices.
