SUICIDE OF A BARONET.
A thrill of horror and profound aensatiop permeated London society, as well as the whole of the civil a'id world, when but n few months ago the senaut'onal newp ippeared in the English Press, and was flashed across the continents, that Sir tTrederick Tyodnl Robertson, M.P., had committed suicide by cutting his, throat with a razor in,.consequence of- mental through illness, Natnro revolts at’self-destruction, pven when life has lost all charms for its possessor, sn£ when existence is iallended iwith i naught but-:misery. Yet, when loss of all is dear to man; or woman, when that price* less pearl, man’s reputation has beenfilched and driven a soul to the depth of despair, or when the body is racked with ceaseless torments of pain,-self-wrought destruction seems almost pardonable,; and the world is inclined to view the ; surrounding circumstances of ia suicide with a charitable eye, and with that mercy which is the first virtue of frail creatures. There, for instance, we fi- d man’s career suddenly closed in the noon ofAinanhood, and in the midst of his honorable and useful labors. Such incidents, read a lesson much --more impresßiva n ihan any w,hiph. the, most? eloquent preacher pr„jnost versatile writer could ,possib : y dep’ct.. Whnt is honor, wealth, distinction, compared to the priceless blessing of health t .How many a man is daily iving on the vprge of i.is resources, sulfuinu from “ a slight touchof liver complaint ” or. “.kidney > Section," ; unti l , alas,' he sinks down under (he ghaHtlj’ weih;. t of accumulated disease, leaving a disconsolate funi'y to mourn over his severe dtspens ition ; or how often is man called upon to lament the preraatu-e demise of his sons or daughters, who, called aw»y m tl>« bloom of youth ai d . beauty,- became death's remorseless -prey ? The eorrow-strick-'o parent thus finding himself abandoned in his 1 declining age, in his bitterness of ;.grief, arraigns what appears to him the mysterious and insontable ways' of Providence. Bather than accuse the merciful justice of Providence let us know the laws under which it acts. Coujd the angel of mercy unbar the doors of death and cpunt the many victims which year by year prematurely enter ita gates, the great bulk of the masses would awake to a sense of the “ grave " responsibility, for it.may be safely asserted that where war has slain thousands diseases of the kidney aud'liver has. slain tens of thousands. Surely the experience of modern times will not continue for ever to lift its warning voice to mankind in vain. ' Those in health should fortify their system ; while those impaired and debilitated 1 in their system should not delay a moment to"r*cruit their vital powers by a course of Warner’s safe cure/which invariably restores constitutional strength. Thesh facts are .persistently demonstrated by the endorsements of responsible colonists, many of which, through the agency of this medicine have been literally lifted from the grave. We quote the Very Rev. P- ’Dunne,;Vicar-General of the Catholic Diocese, -Albnry, N.S.W.,'who under date May 14,'1890,1 speaks «s> follows “ 1 have used several bottles of Warner’s safe cure; while suffering from 'pains in the hick and loins, due to disorder of the liver and kidneys; and found prompt and great relief. I have therefore mtieb pleasure in certifying accordingly.’’ Mrs E. Payne, of Albury, writes us For the 'past three yeirs I have been the - subject of a most distressing 1 disease of the kidneys. At first I found myself getting daily weaker, though, there were -ho - particular pains, but subsequently, and now. .some twelve months since, fearful pains invaded all parts of my body. Ultimately dropsy set in, iny stomach became pietornaturally distended and fi led with water, actually bringing me to the brink of the grave. An analysis of niv urine showed a large percentage of a bumen, proving that I was stricken 1 ' With the dread Bright’s Disease. I cammenced the use of Warner's.ea f © cure andafter one full bottle the kidneys lesumed their action and ihe dropsy aba'ei. Ptir t© taking it the water had to bv removed - by’ surgical means., 1( A , gtja'ysis aso thowed tnsfc was lessening; To be litlef, I l ave now used Bor 9 bottles of safe cme, and every trace cf th s grave and so-called ' fatal" ‘disease has been subdued.” Mr Thomas Elliott, Mayor of Castiemaine, Victoria, under date June 7, cer ifias ;—I have taken a number of bottles of Warner’s safe cure when laboring under a serious affection of the kidneys and liver. There were signs of persistent indigestion and its train (f distressing ailments. Thtse symptoms have been permanently removed, and I cm' faithfully recommend Warner’s safe cme.” Mr E. D, Williams, M.8.0., ; «T.P., of Castiemaine, under date June 9, 1890, sates: “For 2 years or more 1 suffjred at times most severely from congestion of the liver. There was. constant enlargement, causing excruciating pains, and making life almost insupportable, A kind of listlessness and irritability look hold of me. Suffering as described for many years, and failing to oat any relief from the remedies of the schools, I resorted to the use of Warn r’s safe cure, when, after I had taken four bottles, all swelling of the liver went down, and with it all pains vanished.! Therefore do not neglect the symptoms denoting disorder of the kinneys and liver, as such is tantamount to suicide} but have prompt recourse to that remarkable specific, whose-; unfailing- efficacy |a matter of general'comnisnt.
