LABOR.

Wellington, June 25. When the conference between the commissioners and the executive was resumed this morning, Mr McKerrow said that after careful consideration the commissioners had agreed to accept the proposals of the delegates for 54 hours per week (including concessions). It would be fully two years before the alterations could be brought completely into force, but in the meantime the men would be paid overtime after 54 hours. Of course there were a few exceptional cases which would have to be treated according to their merits, but be felt sure the°executive could not oppose this. Mr .Hoban sincerely thanked the commissioners for this decision, adding that the ezecutive were arguing on principles, and would not object to a few exceptional cases being treated differently. Mr Winter remarked that all difficulty had now been obviated, and the whole body of railway servants would be extremely grateful to the commissioners, and their work would in fact be a pleasure to them. The delegates leave for Christchurch this afternoon.
