MOUNT PEEL ROAD BOARD.
The ordinary meeting of the Board was held in the Bead Board office, Peel Forest, on 20th instant. There were present the Hon. J. B. Acland (chairman), Messrs E. Thew, 0. Q-. Tripp, E; Mackay, and GK J. Dennistoun. COEEESPONDENCB. The following correspondence was read and disposed of Prom the Geraldine County Council requesting the payment of £76 4s Id, to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board, being the board’s contribution for the current half year.—The amount was passed for payment. From the Property Tax Commissioner forwarding instructions for the necessary alterations to be made in the Taluation roll, in consequence of the changes in the pastoral runs in the district.
From the Manager “ Colonial Seal Property Company ” in reference to the remoral of pipes from the Crow Road at bherwood Downs. From the Mackenzie County Council requesting the payment of"' £l6 9s, being half cost of work done by the Council in widening and improving the channel of the Opihi river at the Fairlie Creek footbridge,— It was resolved that the amount be paid, but the board consider that they should have been consulted previous to the work being carried out, and request that in future this may be done. From Mr J. Greenaway stating that he had sold section 22469 to Mr C. G. Tripp, and requesting that hi* name be substituted on the valuation roll Mr Tripp having consented, the alteration was ordered to be made. From Mr H. Ford, requesting that Mr Postlethwaite’s name be placed on the valuation roll in place of his, as he had leased his land in the Orari Gorge f ° ra t erinof years— The clerk to obtain Mr Postlethwaite’s consent. From Messrs J. and E. Bowie quoting price for forest trees. * From Mr W. E. Barker, asking permission to erect gates across the road leading to bis house.—The overseer to inspect and report at next meeting. From Mr H W. Andrew, of Hastings, enclosing circular and testimony m reference to poisoned gram for the destruction of small birds.
The clerk stated that the Audit Inspector had attepded at the oflSce and audited the hoard’s accounts, . Evolved that the following suggestion be forwarded to the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board—“ That this board suggests to the Charitable Aid Board the advisability of consulting the Bocal Bodies before administering charitable aid in their respective districts, excepting only in those cases where the Charitable Aid Board considers immediate relief necessary/’ ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £lßl 4a 5d were passed tor payment, alter which the board adjourned.
