AUCTIONEERS' REPORT. TIM ABIT. Messrs Grade, Maclean and Co. report for the past fortnight, as follows: Horses—On the 7th inst. our entry attbe Timaru Horse Bazaar ; was better than for some time both as regards numbers and quality, and nearly all the best class of 1 draughts changed hands. To-day only 22 head were entered, and but little business done, sellers and buyers' evidently holding back'for the annual sale at Washdyke yards on Tuesday, the 17th. We quote sales of medium to good draughts at from £l2 10s to £25, inferior £8 to £lO. Hacks—A few medium sorts have changed hands at small money, but weeds are unsaleable at any price. Sheep—At Pleasant Point, on the 2ad inst., there was'a large entry, and sales were easily effected of all classes' of fat sheep and well forward stores. We sold 328 2-tooths at 15s, 291 2tootbs at lGs 8d,'31 fat ewes at 13s 4d, 136 2-tooth wethers at 12s lid, 55 do do at 10s-9(J, 66 ewes at 9s Id, 327 fat ewes at 9s. 153 ewes at 7s, 38 lambs at 6s 6d, 12 wethers at ]os Id, and 71 fat ewes at 12s 9d. At Washdyke. yards we sold 36 ewes and wethers at 10s, 29 do do at 14s 9d, 101 crossbred ewes at 8s 2d, 74 fat wethers at 14s 6d, 22 do do at 0.2 s 6d.
Cattle—At the different sales during the fortnight, entries under this head have been small. Eat cattle are now in demand, and owners may rely on obtaining full value for them. Business in stores is slack, owing in a great measure to the scarcity of feed. We sold 4 steers at £3 17s Gil, 2 yearlings at 16s, 6 heifers at 255, 7 bullocks at £5 ss, 6 do at £5 2s 6d. Skins—At our regular sale, on the 4th inst, we sold 840 skins. The local buyers were all present, and the prices realised were quite up to our expectations. Butchers' green skins fetched from 4s 4d to 4s Bd, country dry crossbreds (best) 3s 9d to 4a 6d, medium 2s to 3s 6d, pelts 3d to 9d. 9 bales and 12 bags wool also sold at full values. Privately we disposed of 900 factory skins. Messrs William Collins and Co. report a good demand for fowl wheat at their sale on Saturday. G-ood whole wheat brought 2s 4|d per bushel, broken and clean 2s Id. Lower sorts were sold by the sack from ss, 6s 3d to 6s 6d. Peed oats were being offered in town at very low figures, blit no buyers could be found. Derwent potatoes 40sper ton, carcases pork 3id to per lb with good demand, fresh butter Is 3d per lb, eggs Is per dozen, onions id per lb, pig potatoes 2s 6d to 3s per sack, live pigs ' 7s 6d to 15s 6d each.
