Hkbest:—At a nesting of tha Dunedin Presbytery. Mr A. 0. Begg made a complaint to the effect that on Sabbath, the 25th May, at the morning service of the First Church congregation the Bey. James Gibb made use of language to the effect that he did not agree with the doctrine of election as set forth ia the Standards of the Church j that the words vyerp an emphatic declaration from the pulpit of the falsity of one of the cardinal doctrines of Scripture and of the Presbyterian Church, end that such a statement made in such circumstances wss calculated to unsettle the minds of the members and adherents of the congregation, and generally to throw doubt upon the doctrines of the Church.
