TEMUKA TOWN BOARD.
The monthly meeting of the Temuka Town Board waa held last evening, Present—Messrs J. Blyth (chairman), P. Coira, G. J. Mason, and A. R. Allan. CORRESPONDENCE. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows : From Mr Flatman, enclosing resolution to be submitted to a public meeting in Geraldine. From Mr Stubbs, stating that the Temuka Town Board’s share of Charitable Aid for the current year was £2115s 3d, the half which should be paid before a certain date. From Mr Wareing, asking for Mr Miles’s name to be placed on the roll in consideration of the stone store. From the County Council, requesting to be informed of the amount of rates collected last year. From Mr J. Davis, asking the board’s assent to his leasing three acres of bis reserve to Mr Franks. The request of Mr Wareing was agreed to. Consideration of the letter from Mr Flalman was taken in band, and after a short discussion it was decided that the three first resolutions did not concern the board, and that the expediency of the resolution in re charitable aid was doubtful. In re the Jester from Mr Davis, the application was not entertained. oteesbee’s EBPOET. The overseer’s report was read, and from it we make the following extracts : In accordance with resolution passed at last meeting of the board, he had had street repairs carried out as far as could be accomplished by two days hire of team and dray, but much more required to be done, as the roads would soon be cut up badly by alternate frosts and rain. The fbor of office, gates, steps, etc., had bean repaired, and he had had the outside premises thoroughly cleared ou the east, north, and west, which ensured a good fall from the building. The work required to be done to the spouting had not as yet been carried out by Mr Duncan. The police had summoned Mr Streeter for leaving hir traction and combine on Ewen Road one night. In accordance with resolution passed at last meeting of the board ha had invited fresh tenders for lease of part reserve 820, and had posted notice to Mr Davis, lessee of part of same reserve, disclaiming any responsibility by the board for any building erected on the same. He wished to know whether, in the event of judgment being obtained against a person fos aon-registraticm of a dog, and a fine being inflicted, subsequent destruction of the dog was considered sufficient protection against payment ©f registration foe. The amount of general rate owing on let April for year ending 31st March, 189 Q, was £64 10a 6d, This had been reduced at the present time to £45 IQ 3 fid. The apepial rate for the samp time was on Ist April £4B lla Bd, but this had been reduced to £34 6a 7d. This, with general rate for year ending March 31, 1889, £2 4s Bd, and rents overdue at present time amounting to £24 10s fld, brought the board's present outlying sources of revenue to £lO6 12s 6d. This did not include debts considered bad, amounting to £6 16s. The board’s accounts were audited on Thursday, and everything passed satisfactorily. The matter of carting shing shingle was left over to a meeting to be held next Friday evening. It was decided that all rate? and rents not paid by npxt board day be sued for. ACCOUNTS. Accounts to the amount of £3l were passed for payment, and the meeting adjourned.
