The Bruce Potato.—Russell's monthly time-table to hand contains a slip (published by the Wanganui Chronicle) setting forth the advantages of a now comparatively frost-proof potato raised by Mr A. Finlay, of Markrich (Fife). It is the result ©f seven years careful crossing and selection, the original stock bein y a variety known a* Paterson's Victoria and the late Rose. These were selected as being in no way relaoed, as the former was of Scoteh and the latter of American oaigin. It is claimed for this new potato that it can stand without the least injury to its halum from 6 to 8 degrees of frost, and that it has a fine favour and is a good cropper. There is no reason why a potato possessing all the above qualities should not be produced, [t would prove itself to be a valuable introduction for early planting, etc. We trust that some of our enterprising potato growers will give it a fair trial and report the result when the time comes.
