PRIMITIVE METHODIST CHURCH, GERADINE.
The first of a winter aeries of popular eatertaiuments was given in this church on Monday evening Jast. church was well filled. The Her. Q-. Clement occupied the chair. The first piece on the programme waß a chorus by the choir, " When the harvest is past"; duet Mrs Maslin and Miss Eskett, »Jesus known thy sorrow"; solo, Mr Logan, "Pass under the rod "; reading, Mr 0. B. Sherratt, " Eehgious grumblers." The next item was a piece by a number of little girls, " The children's jubilee " The performance of the children was the most pleasing feature of the whole evening. Each one Held in her hand a bunch of flowers tied with colored ribbon, the ends of which hung down about six inches. As the children sang they beat the time with the bunches of bowers. 'I he bright dresses and happy faces of the children with the many colored flowers arid gay ribbons, combined with the graceful motions, gave the whole a very pleasing effeet. The little ones were trained by Miss Eskett, who alee acted as their conductor, and very great credit is due to her for the time and trouble she had expended upon the task. Kecitation, Master W, Maslm, " The village choir " ; chorus, "J n f three calls"; quartette, Mm Maslm, Miss Eskett, Messrs Logan and C. E. Sherratt, " Welcome wanderer, welcome"; chorus, by the children, "Shout, shout, hosonna"'; solo, Miss Andrews, " Vesper bymo,"; chorus, "The Great Deliverer"; chorus, "Seeking for me"; duct, Mrs Logan and Miss Andrewi, "Gentle words"; recitation, Miss F, Every, "'Cause he didn't think"; piece by the children, "Onward"; recitation, Miss Eskett, "The last hymn"; chorus, " Victory "; recitation, Mrs Logan, .'.? Mary, Queen of > I boots " ; quartette, Mrs Logan, Miss"* Andrews, Messrs Jones and C. E. Sherratt; pi ece by the children, Heart flowers." The cnoir was under the leadership of Mr A; Sherratt, Mr T. conclusion of the entertainment Mr R. Hammond proposed and Mr Sutherland seconded a vote of thanks to the performers, which was carried by acclamation. Jhe singing of " The Christmas good night" by the choir, and the pronouncing of the B enediction terminated the meeting- Last winter a series of similar entertainments were held and were highly successful, and it is proposed to hold several more during the present winter. The chairman announced that the next entertainment would be a _ service of song, which would be given at an early date.
