GERALDINE TOWN BOARD.
A statutory special meeting of this board was held om Tuesday evening, at seven o'clock, for the purpose of considering the annual balance-sheet to March 31, and the statement of the board's reserves, as prepared by the clerk, in accordance with the Town Boards Act. There were present Messrs W. S. Maslin (Chairman) A, White, J. Williams, A. Sherratt, E. Taylor, J. Mundell and N. Dunlop. The balance-sheet and statement of reserves having been read over and considered were passed as satisfactory. The usual monthly meeting of the board was then held the same members being present. CORRESPONDENCE. Corraspondence was read and dealt with as follows : Prom the Town Ranger enclosing his monthly report of cattle found wandering. Prom the Captain of the Pire Brigade re the ladders ordered for the brigade and other small matters. The items mentioned were referred to the sub-committee previously appointed to obtain them. A cheque was ordered to be drawn for this year's Bubsidy of £ls. Prom Mr R. H. Pearpoint, asking for crossing at his business premises to allow of drays crossing the footpath with timber.—Granted. Prom Mr A. Baker, submitting for approval ths plans of his new shop.— Approved of. Prom Mr T. Pinch, asking for the name of Mr H. Citron to be substituted for his upon the rate roll for the property formerly held by him.— Mr Citron having countersigned the application it was granted. Prom Mr Jas. Turner asking the board to put up for tender the lease of sections 845, 346, and 347.—1 t was decided to offer for lease all the board's sections at present unoccupied Prom Mr C. Gr, Tripp, acknowledging the vote of thanks passed to him at last meeting in connection with the water race. Prom the Properly Tax Commissioner, Wellington, stating that he had forwarded to the Treasury a voucher for the payment of the subaidy on rates collected. Prom the Survey office, Christchurch, enclosing prices for making a
district.—The clerk was instructed to ascertain the cost of enlarging the scale to twe chains to the inch. A circular from the Harbour Board re collection of rates, ordered to lie on the table for a month, was read and considered, and finally the following resolution was passed :—"That this board approves of the steps proposed to be taken by the Harbor Board re rates, and supports the same," overseer's report. _ The overseer's report was read, and the race committee were authorised to deal with the water at the lower end of the town. M £ Jl complained that he bad been reduced Is per day for labour with a single horse and dray. The overseer explained that MrPizzey had been paid the same as other carters with one horse and dray who had been employed by the board. A reference to the books showed this to be correct and the matter dropped. TENDERS. Only one tender was received for lighting the street lamps for twelve months, namely, C. Qroyes, £4O 10s, which was accepted. A-CCWNTS. Accounts amounting to £2O 6s Id were passed for payment, and the meeting terminated. DOMAIN BOAED. The usual monthly meeting of the members of this board was held on Tuesday evening last, all the members being present. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed, and there being no other business to transact the meeting terminated.
