At Christchurch an old and 'respected citizen, Mr Solomon Nashelski, died about midnight on Monday, aged 68. He was a native of Enssian Poland, and came to Victoria in 1852, Ofcago in 1862, and Chnstchureb. in 1864. He was a member of the Canterbury Lodge, E C. of Masons, alao of the Canterbury Kilwinning Royal Arch Chapter. He leaves a widow and five children. An interesting elopement case has been divulged. A draper's assistant some time ago became enamoured of a young lady, and it was arranged that they should proceed to Sydney together by the Jubilee, sailing from Wellington on Wednesday. The draper is a married man with one child He proceeded to Wellington some time ago, and to avoid suspicion the After JTa* 0 f °"T afc her S After the draper's departure frequent etters passed, these were torn up bv the recipient, and the wife secured scraps which were thrown in a corner, and from them learned her husband's and address. A warrant for the draper's arrest on a charge of wife desertion has been issued, He has been arrested for wife desertion
