It is still' doubtful whether Henry George will visit New Zealand or not. A special meeting of the City Council is to be held to consider th® matter. A meeting of the creditors of Josiah White, a debtor who was arrested on the Melbourne steamer at the Bluff, was held on Wednesday. The statement showed liabilities £2O, and assets £9B. Mrs White stated that she bad £3OO out of her former husband’s estate when she married White, to whom she advanced it all. Home of it was paid, She had about £2OO now. An offer by the bankrupt’s friends to pay the creditors in full if they abandoned proceedings against him was declined The Christchurch carriers have joined the cabmen in boycotting the railway station till Constable Kelly is removed. The Traffic Manager offers to limit Kelly’s duties to the station premises so that he shall have nothing to do with the adjacent cabstand on the town belt, but the cabmen decline the offer.
