The "Wellington members of the Seamen's Union have decided to boycott shopkeepers who do not conform : to the early closing movement. The Natives at Panhaka have been subscribing money to pay a lawyer to defond the Native charged with the murder of Maloney, and have retained Mr Samuel as counsel. Mr Samuel bad an interview with the prisoner on Saturday. In Auckland last Friday a young man named Harry Blott, twenty-five years of age, in the butchery trade, was accidentally drowned in the saltwater baths. He was subject to fits. The Tailoresses' Union of Auckland have published an intimation to the effect that the tailoresses employed in all clothing shops and factories where the log adopted by the Union is not adhered to hy Saturday next, are expected to leave their employment on Monday.
