An unusual scene occurred in the Queen’s Bench Division on February 4th. While Mr Justice Denman and Mr Justice Wills were hearing certain appeals, Mr Hind, one of the plaintiffs, addressed the Court disrespectfully, and eventually declared that ' the Judges then presiding were the most corrupt on earth. He was committed to prison for a week for contempt. Over 150 persons guessed within a quarter of a minute of the actual time occupied by Miss Holly Ely in her journey round the world. The guess which won was 72 days 6 hours 11 minutes, 14 2-sth seconds, being 2-sth seconds over the exact time. The total number of guesses sent in was 927,433. > An extraordinary riot of women occurred at Buffalo on February 2nd, Upwards of 2000 Polish women assembled together and endeavored to mob a Roman Catholic Priest who had been appointed to succeed a favorite pastor. A force ot 200 policemen had to undertake the protection of the priest, and they were furiously assailed by the vindictive women, who threw salt and pepper into their eyes. Many civilians who were assisting the priest, were also assaulted. One woman, who seized a policeman by the throat and attempted to strangle him, was arrested, but afterwards rescued by her cempanions after a sharp struggle. The will of the late Viscount Falmouth of St James’ square, Mereworth Ca,stle, Kent, and Tregrothah, Cornwall, who died on Hoyember 6th last, has been proved. !he acting executor is his eldest son, the present Viscount Falmouth, upon whom and his issue the testator entails his estates in Corn-, wall. The,value of the personal estate has been sworn at £137,889.
Slavin, the pugilist, was married to Miss Edith Slater, of Margate, on Wednesday, recently.
