ENGLISH MARKETS.

LoffDoir, April 2. The quantity of wheat and flour afloat for the United Kingdom is 2.600.000 quarters; for the Continent, 668.000 quarters, The amount of visible A merican supply is estimated at 27,101,000 bushels OHRISTOHUROH CORN EXCHANGE The following is the Corn Exchange report (per N. P. Meyers, Secretary), for the week ending Friday, April 4th: — The weather during the past week has been very variable, but most favorable to those whose grass had gone off, and whose root crops were much in need of moisture. Should frosts hold off our graziers will have much better prospects of winter feed than at one time seemed likely. The shipments of grain during the week have been large. Potatoes : Kidneys, have also been exported to some extent. Wheat; English advices are not at all encouraging, and shippers cannot look for a better return, unless the Home market improves, than can be obtained by selling locally. Prices remained unaltered, Orta; Farmers are all holding, and in consequence very little business eventuates. Barley ; The remarks made last week as to this cereal still apply, vig., a scarcity of milling samples, whilst the market is glutted with medium to feed parcels. A considerable diversity of opinion exists between the growers and the maltsters as to what constitutes a “prime malting sample,” and many growers are much disappointed to find that on showing their sample it is not recognised as of a high grade—- in many cases not being much better than '■ good feed,” when, of course, it comes into competition with oats. Peas: Prussian blpes are readily saleable, if true to sort and carefully threshed, Beans: But little doing, and prices are hardly fixed.
