AUCTIONEER’S REPORT. Mr Moss Jonas is pleased to report that business keeps moderately brisk, and as he foretold some time ago that we had seen the last of bad times. The safe way that business is being done will only be a matter of a short time for transactions to be carried out without the slightest risk. He sold 2 horses at £23 each, 1 at £2l 2 at £2O 1 at £l6, 1 at £l6, and 3 from £lO to £l4; 2 drays at £9 to £ll, and harness at £2 to £3 10s a set Any young horses brought forward are saleable at good prices, Washdyke Yards—On March 27th he sold 167 2-tooth ewes and wethers at 11s, MI do at 10s 6d, 171 do at 10s, 61 fat ewes at 9s, 73 do at Ba,

118 do at Os 3d, 63 merino ewes at 4s 7d, 300 do at 2s 9d, 473 threequarterbred ewes at 8s 6d, 380 halfbred ewes at 7s 6d, 370 half and tbreequarterbred lambs from '6s 3d to 8s 4d, and 360 crossbred wethers at 11s 6d, 8 Lincoln rams at 2-| guineas, 1 do at 2J guineas, 10 do at 31 guineas, 11 Border Leicester at £2 2s, and 10 do at £1 lla 6d, 12 pigs at 9s. On this occasion he sold no cattle.

Sheepskins, Hides, and Eat—Although there have been no regular sales held for the last two months, he has continually sold large lines privately. For instance, last week he sold 2330 at the following figures : Eull-wool crossbreds at from 5s to 7s 3d, half-wool skins Is 6d to 3s 9d, pelts 9d to 2s, lambs’ Is to 3s ; hides, Id and 3d per lb, according to quality; fat, 10a 6d to 14s. AUSTRALIAN MARKETS. Melbourne, March 29. The Department of Agriculture has received a letter from London that the success of the importation of Australian butter into England is assured, and it states that the butter is of better quality than that sent from New Zealand. ENGLISH MARKETS. London, March 27. New Zealand frozen mutton is 5d per lb. The best New Zealand cheese averages 48s per cwt. New Zealand hemp, good medium, £23 to £23 ss. Best New Zealand butter, 80s per cwt. The butter by the Eifeshire and the Eimutaka is in poor condition, and only realised 48s. March 28. Australian wheat, ex warehouse, 38s 6d, nominal; New Zealand longberried ditto, ex store, 37s 6d steady. No. 1 best Scotch pig iron f.o-b. in the Clyde, 51s 3d, steady. Leather is quoted at 9£d to lOd. New Zealand rabbit skins have advanced L|d.
